Pujari is pleased to announce that we will be celebrating Bengali New Years ("Baisakhi") on Saturday April 12th, starting at 4pm at Berkmar High School, 405 Pleasant Hill Rd, Lilburn, GA 30047. Besides the extremely sumptuous Bengali dinner menu, we are excited to present Gayatree and her troup, the extremely popular singer from NJ. “Bhalo Lagar Gaan” by Gayatree Sarma & Troupe - Gayatree Sarma and her troupe consists of herself,Bidip Sihna and Iswar Sarma (instrument). Gayatree is an extremely talented vocalist with soothing and melodious voice in Bengali songs. Since her childhood, she had taken extensive training in classical, light classical, ghazals and modern Bengali songs. She is trained in Lucknow Gharana by a very renowned classical vocalist Mandira Lahiri from Kolkata. Performed both in Doordarshan and All India Radio. She represented the state of Assam in national Inter University Youth Festival for vocal contest. Received multiple gold medals in light classical & other vocal competitions.She earned a Master of Music from Lucknow . She has performed at numerous venues like Kallol of NJ, Chicago and Garden State Association of NJ. Bidip Sinha is a gifted artist and he is equally good in playing Tabla, Sitar, Piano & Guitar. He accompanied renowned artists from Assam and Kolkata, namely, Dr. Bhupen Hazarika and Sudip Dey (nephew of Manna Dey). We will also be featuring "Rhythm & Dance", a performance by "NOTINEE", Birmingham's first Indian Classical-Folk-Fusion Dance Group, led by the multi-faceted Bisakha Sen.
